Upcoming Programs


HCP&R will sponsor a series of Summer Sports Camps beginning in June for all boys and girls in grades three-through-eight as of the opening of school in the fall of 2017. The camps will be run by the coaching staffs at Hampshire High School and will focus on team and individual skills, fundamentals, and strategies. All proceeds from the camps will go to the sport sponsoring the camp. The schedule for the camps will be as follows:

TENNIS– Coach Jake Tighe- June 19-21- 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the HHS Tennis Courts- Registration Fee-$30; VOLLEYBALL– Coach Megan Fuller- June 20-21- 10:00 to noon at the HHS Gym- Registration Fee-$20; GIRLS’ BASKETBALL– Coach Julieanne Buckley- June 26-27- 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the HHS Gym- Registration Fee-$20; WRESTLING– Coach Ed Hardinger- June 26-28- 9:00 until noon at the Old Romney Middle School Gym- Registration Fee-$30; CHEER CAMP- Coach Lisa Meadows- June 26-29- 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the HHS Gym- Registration Fee-$20- Must register for Cheer Camp by 6/20 to guarantee a camp tee shirt.

There are three ways to register for a camp. First, log onto the HCP&R website, hampshirecountyparks.com, scroll to the bottom of the home page, and fill out the Program Registration Form. The registration fee may then be mailed to HCP&R at P.O. Box 213, Romney, WV 26757, or you may pay the registration fee at the camp site the first day of the camp. Second, you may register in person at the HCP&R Office at 90 North High Street in Romney any weekday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Also, registrations will be accepted the first day of each camp at the camp site.

Registrations are now being accepted for a Flag Football League that will begin play this summer. Games are tentatively set to begin on June 10 and will follow on succeeding Saturdays through the end of July. The league is open to all boys and girls ages 4 through 13, and teams will be chosen geographically within the county. Players and teams will be grouped according to the following age categories: 4 through 7; 8 through 10; and 11 through 13. All games will be played at Central Hampshire Park in Augusta, and USA Football Today rules will govern the league. Registration fee for the league will be $40 per player. That fee will cover the cost of a tee shirt, which participants will keep at the end of the season, and other equipment such as flags and footballs. There are two ways to register for the league. First, you may register online at the HCP&R website, hampshirecountyparks.com. Just scroll to the bottom of the home page and fill out and then send the Program Registration Form.
